Independence v. Stone, et al.

14 protesters were arrested at the Twilight Mine on June 19th, 2009 for their protest in which activists scaled a dragline to unfurl a banner.  Massey is suing these protesters for “loss of income” from the mine on the day of the protest. These trumped up charges are a clear effort, as stated by Massey, to “discourage further protests” – a clear example of a Strategic Lawsuit Against Public Participation.
